Traditional craftsmanship and finest quality from London’s oldest paintmakers.
Established in 1884, Mylands is Britain’s oldest family-owned and run paint and polishes manufacturer. Over four generations, we have quietly but proudly crafted quality paints and wood finishes in Lambeth, South London.
Originally supplying to trade only, Mylands has been a best kept secret amongst interior design professionals and scenic artists for over 130 years. Our long standing association with the film, television and theatre industry has seen our paints featured in some of the world’s most successful productions.
Over the years, Mylands’ knowledge, expertise and dedication have earned us a reputation amongst the most discerning and demanding clientele. In 1985, Mylands was awarded a coveted Royal Warrant – the ultimate seal of approval. Today, Mylands’ paints are available direct to the customer in a comprehensive range of interior and exterior paint finishes for all their decorating needs.
From humble beginnings - four generations of master craftsmen.
Our story begins in 1884 when ‘Honest’ John Myland set up his modest shop in the heart of Lambeth. Unlike some other paintmakers of the day, John was absolutely in thrall to the art of the colourman, insisting on only the very best materials that would allow him to create colours that were lustrous and flawless, with guaranteed quality.
Today, we’re still in Lambeth, the last remaining paint manufacturer in London, and John’s great-grandson Dominic Myland carries on the family tradition of perfection in paint.
We’re preserving the time-honoured, traditional approach to making the finest quality paints and finishes, while making the most of the latest technical advances in paint development. By blending the old with the new, we’re creating time-honoured shades and finishes with all of the benefits of modern performance and technology.
