Established in 1884, Mylands is Britain’s oldest family-owned and run paint and polishes manufacturer. Over four generations, we have quietly but proudly crafted quality paints and wood finishes in Lambeth, South London.

Current Vacancies:

Full Time Credit Controller

Overall Job Purpose: 

  • Chasing customer debt by phone, email and post
  • Credit checking potential customers before accounts are set up on system
  • Ensure the Mylands image is maintained to the highest standard

Key Responsibilities:

  • Call customers and email re debt collection. Resolving issues or queries around non-payments: overcharged, non-delivery, FOC orders.
  • Print copy invoices as required.
  • Find proof of delivery notes to match with invoices for old debts. Liaise with Finance Coordinator for debts pre 2015.
  • Credit checking on Experian.
  • Work with Priority to build a CRM system and ‘credit control’ tab.
  • Update customer contact details on system where incorrect to include email, address and phone number.
  • Take debt payments by credit card.
  • Manage ‘on stop’ accounts.
  • Manage collection period ratio to be under Mylands suggested guidelines.
  • Supply weekly Debtors’ Report, including aged debt and monies received the Manager Director.
  • Maintain a clear desk and file daily

Experience and Skills Required:

  • Credit control experience is a must.
  • Ability to have difficult conversations

Full Time Maintenance Engineer

Overall Job Purpose:

  • Process plant, maintenance engineer
  • Ensure the Mylands image is maintained to the highest standard

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out general maintenance on machinery in each department, work site
  • Follow maintenance plan
  • Keep documentation up to date
  • Work on projects

Experience and Skills Required:

  • Process plant engineering
  • Working in paint, coating, food or cosmetics manufacturing environment  
  • Experience in site maintenance
  • Experience in project management
  • Driving licence
  • Basic educational grounding / NVQ / Diploma beneficial
  • Excellent knowledge of process plant equipment
  • Organization skills and a methodical approach to work
  • Strong team working skills
  • Project management skills
  • Knowledge of health and safety legislations
  • Basic computer knowledge (Microsoft software)
  • Excellent time keeper
